Des tentes installées jusqu'à ce matin pour sensibiliser l'opinion et les pouvoirs publics
« Y'a des gens dedans ? Qui dorment ? Ah oui ? » s'étonnait un passant, hier matin, place de la Comédie, à la vue de la vingtaine de tentes déployées à quelques mètres de l'entrée du Polygone. L'action des Enfants de Don Quichotte n'est donc pas passée inaperçue et hier soir, ce sont plusieurs dizaines de nouvelles tentes qui devaient être ainsi installées par l'association de défense des sans-abri et des mal logés. « Ça fait deux semaines que nous avons démarré un tour de France du mal logement, depuis le redémarrage des expulsions le 15 mars. Nous visons ainsi une quinzaine de villes où l'on se pose avec les
tentes. Nous sommes allés à Avignon, Marseille, Lyon et maintenant Montpellier » détaille Ronan, un des piliers de l'association et même l'oeil des Enfants de Don Quichotte puisqu'il filme quasiment au quotidien toutes les actions.
La place de la Comédie n'est donc qu'une étape de deux jours et chacun a été invité à épouser la cause, quelle que soit sa situation : des SDF, des mal logés, des étudiants, des militants ont ainsi passé une ou deux nuits sous la toile. Le but étant de sensibiliser l'opinion publique - un mercredi à l'entrée de la galerie commerciale, les gens n'ont pas pu les éviter - et alerter, une nouvelle fois, les pouvoirs publics.
« Tout le monde peut devenir Enfant de Don Quichotte car le souci de logement concerne les sans-abri mais aussi toutes les autres personnes logées dans des conditions insalubres ou qui y consacrent 50 % de leur budget », poursuit Ronan. « Ce que nous voulons ce sont des réponses concrètes aux mesures annoncées et notamment par Sarkozy qui est le premier concerné. Il avait annoncé qu'il n'y aurait plus de sans-abri en deux ans, c'est possible mais cela n'a pas été mis en oeuvre », rappelle le militant qui note aussi que le budget du ministère du Logement a baissé de 10 %. Ce matin, l'association, qui a toujours en réserve plus de 200 tentes, se rend à Toulouse.
En fait, ce tour de France n'est qu'une répétition avant la grande action, prévue le 15 mai, partout dans l'Hexagone, y compris à Montpellier.
